So what’s the next Occasion?
Valentines Day of course!
Well, I must admit that I’m not really a valentines person and I have never even made a valentines card. But I sat down today for a little bit of craft time and thought I’d try my hand at a few “challenges”. I checked a few blogs that I visit regularly and found a couple of challenges that a few of them participate in.
The first challenge is one that I had never heard of but thought it looked fun. The site is called {Embellish} Magazine and as the title says it’s all about embellishments. The callenge they had set was to embellish with hearts. This is to get ready for Valentines day and get some great ideas circulating for others to check out.
Keeping with the Valentines theme you also have to use Red, Pink and Black. I was a little worried about that because if you don’t get it right it just looks really, really wrong! But seeing as I wanted a challenge, I decided I’d go for it. I combined it with the Mojo Monday sketch challenge and here it is:
I used the smallest amount of black as I could and relied on the Pink Pirouette and the Riding Hood Red to make the card. And I am also not a fan of hearts in general so I kept those quite small and simple.
Notice the gorgeous crumpled flower at the top? I got this idea from Dawn McVey and she even has a tutorial for it. I love Dawn’s style and everything that she does is just beautiful.
So what do you think? Did I do ok for someone that doesn’t like hearts or the colour combination of red, black and pink? Why don’t you let me know your least favourite colour combination and I’ll see what I can do with it. After this challenge I’m ready for anything 😉
