Paper Tole
I have a confession to make, I secretly love paper tole. Paper Tole is the technique of layering multiple copies of an image together to form a 3 dimensional version of the picture. Sometimes it can be a bit cluttered and too grandma-ish (no offense to any Grandma’s reading this) but the time and skill it takes to do Paper Tole is very admirable. This is an example I found on PaperTole USA.
And here is my card. A very, very simple example of paper tole.
I have coloured 5 copies of the flower from the Embrace Life stamp set. I left one image as the base image, then I cut out the flower in various ways. The first two layers are actually the whole flower just laid at an angle to make it look as though the flower is fuller. The third layer is just the center petal and the final layer is the tip of the center petal.

Do you use dimensionals to stick each layer down? It doesn’t look as raised as a dimensional would do – curious! Looks lovely Amy.
I haven’t used anything. I just stuck each layer directly to the one beneath. Because it is quite a small flower I didn’t want it to stick out too far. This technique would look good with the Fifth Avenue Floral rose too. I know how much you love that set 😉
Amy….simply stunning. I love the simplicity and elegance of the card. I have been using my C’bug quite a lot with some cards lately and they just add the right thing huh??? In grey tones with a pink or blue flower it wld also be a v v nice sympathy card…..just a thought.
I’m sure it would look lovely with Fifth Ave … but you’ll never see it on my blog!!! haha!! 😉
