Great friend in Lavender
I haven’t done a case of a “Janeybell” in a while so I thought I would because I love the simplistic elegance that she achieves in her cards. I really like this layout that she used so I used here but changed it to include the new stamp set Great Friend which will be available to purchase after 1st August. I’m just loving this butterfly.
I also thought that I might try some new colour combinations. I actually don’t like purple so I never use it but thought there must be many people who do so this one is for all you purple lovers out there! Hopefully you like it.
This first card uses Lavender Lace, Certainly Celery, Pretty in Pink and Sahara Sand. The background has been embossed with my cuttlebug using a new embossing folder ‘Forest Branches’ I got the other day from ‘the Little Memory Shop‘. (The folders only cost $10.50 there and the Cuttlebug machine is only $127!) Because that is a whole lot of purple I had to make one with not so much purple too.
I changed the Lavender Lace and Certainly Celery around so this one only has a tiny little square of purple under the butterfly. I also used Basic Grey on this card in place of the Sahara Sand as it was just a bit too light and didn’t contrast enough with the green.
One last thing I did only to the Lavender card was to distress the edges and also the embossed surface of the card. I just used my finger nail to do around the edges but for the embossed surface I used my sanding blocks. This made the raised areas appear worn and actually a lot softer almost like polar fleece fabric. Not sure if I like it but it is very effective and made it look totally different.
Here’s the green card without distressing
and the lavender card all “stressed out”
What do you think? Does it work for you?

Loving the colour combo Amy. Purple and green are doing well with me at the mo too. I also LURVE my Branches C’bug folder. Adds wonderful texture and interest. The sanding works v v well.
