Happy Bird-Day

14Jun09

Here is another cased card.  I’m just loving copying other cards at the moment.  My creative flow must be blocked!  This one comes from Tessa Wise at Crafty Girl Designs.  I love these colours (Pumpkin Pie, Sahara Sand, Baja Breeze and So Saffron) and the little bird is one of my favourites at the moment.  It’s from the Cheep Talk stamp set and the “Happy Bird-Day!” is from the Pun Fun stamp set. Oh, I almost forgot about the strip of card with the presents stamped on.  The present stamp and the little party hat are from the Party Hearty stamp set.

Happy Cheep Bird-DayIt is finished off with a Kraft Taffeta ribbon and some faux stitching detail.  I haven’t used this technique before and it seemed to take a long time to do (maybe because I made 3 identical cards at once) but it looks very impressive.  The only thing I would suggest is that if you have a sewing machine it would be quicker just to use it.  The time it took me to do the piercing and then drawing the ‘stitching’ on with my white gel pen I could have set up my sewing machine and done it for real!  Oh well, I’ll know for next time.  If you don’t have a sewing machine though this is a great alternative.  It just adds a bit more detail to finish of the card.

Thanks for looking,

Amy

Too too cute AMY. I love the way you have adapted the small stamp to create the strip of paper. V v clever…and I’ll store that idea if u don’t mind…LOL!! The faux stitching adds heaps too. Who needs a Janome???
